KC Blue’s Qingdao Production Facility
KC Blue developed a unique Artificial Thermal Energy Storage Pool (ATESP) Heat Pump System technology and applied it at its Qingdao facility to provide heating and cooling for the facility’s workshops, offices and apartments. The total area being heated is 10,000 ㎡. The ATESP uses a small, artificial pond as its water source, for which the lowest winter temperature is 3°C. Facing the problem of potential source water freezing, the company developed a technology for extracting sufficient heat needed from such a small and an ultra-low temperature source in a way to insure an efficient and stable heating performance of the heat pump system, for the full heating season. The ATESP system has been operational at KC Blue, since 2013. It was determined that the system’s operation costs less than 10 RMB/㎡ per year for both heating and cooling, yielding a substantial operational savings.
